PROGRAM AND LOCATION: VOA-NCNN, a Certified Great Place to Work, is recruiting for a full-time Job Developer for the Singles Program at our Mather Community Campus.  Full-time employees (working 30 or more hours a week) are eligible for a benefits package that includes paid holidays, vacation, sick pay, health, dental, vision, life, and short-term disability insurance coverage. 

 

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for interacting with local businesses to identify job placement and career advancement opportunities for the program clients. Conducts outreach presentations with local employers to explain the benefits of hiring VOA clients.

 

OBJECTIVES/ACTIVITIES:

A.    Responsible for client placement to achieve established objectives of the department.

1.    Develop and maintain employer contacts for employment of participants:
       a.    Contact employers to identify job placement and career advancement opportunities.
       b.    Conduct on-site employment position evaluations.
2.    Coordinate career counseling, evaluation, skills training, job readiness training and other activities related to employment transition for clients.
3.    Work with businesses, agencies and organizations to remove employment barriers, and resolve issues related to community integration and the independence of people with disabilities.
4.    Disseminate information; provide outreach and training to potential employers about VOA clients.
5.    Spend time at the client’s prospective workplace to learn the job duties and industry
standard and assist clients in building proficiency over time.
6.    Monitor employment progress of clients who secure employment positions and mentor each of them accordingly.
7.    Ensure the delivery of services which are reflective of client empowerment and self-advocacy.
8.    Meet with clients after job placement weekly for the first month, biweekly in months two through four, and at least monthly for another five months.
9.    Maintain necessary documentation for client records.
10.    Prepare required documentation and reports.
11.    Provide feedback to Program Manager for improving the quality-of-service delivery.


B.    Responsible for assisting with the training and development of new staff.

1.    Assist in department orientation and training for new employees as requested to ensure quality work outcomes.
2.    Serve as part of the development team by providing information and support for the development of quality operations.
3.    Maintain an above average working knowledge of fire, safety, and health standards to assure safe work environment for clients and all personnel.

 

C.    Responsible for self-development.

1.    Continually learn and enhance technical and interpersonal skills.
2.    Attend staff meetings/assigned training and complete required certifications, CPR, First Aid, etc.

 

Qualifications

EQUIVALENT EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred. This position requires two years of  experience in employment services, job development or vocational rehabilitation. Requires one year of experience serving the housing needs of homeless or low-income clients. This position also requires demonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions and to provide services to clients without ethnic or social prejudices. It requires general knowledge of issues and challenges unique to military veterans, homelessness, substance abuse, minorities, and persons with disabilities. Specific knowledge and experience with military culture, housing first approaches, addiction and recovery, and dysfunctional family dynamics is preferred. Must be able to utilize a range of interventions to work with clients with varying needs and levels of functioning. Must have the willingness to function as a team member with the ability to make skillful independent decisions. Valid California driver's license and ability to meet the organization’s insurance carrier guidelines are required. Must pass all required background clearances in accordance with agency, County, State, and federal standards. CPR/First Aid certification is required within 90 days of employment. Completion and maintenance of all required training and health clearances.

Pay Range

USD $25.00 - USD $29.00 /Hr.
